The same is the case with rural micro industries whose often excellent products are lost in the maze of the large markets.It was the disparity between the work they did, the crops they grew/the goods they produced and the income they received that attracted the attention of Mr. Leelakrishnan, a man who is both a farmer himself and a serial entrepreneur. Having a foot in both worlds gave him a clear understanding of the problems the farmers faced as well and the expertise to find the path to an improved lifestyle and increased wellbeing.

Leelakrishnan understood that what the farmers and micro businesses needed was not charity, loan melas, the introduction of high technology, the inputs of agronomists, the theories of marketing gurus or sermons on what the future holds for them. The increased income would then generate the resources and create the ability to build on that foundation and create long-term change in the lives of the economically disadvantaged rural population.
